October 10, 2020, Saturday: Trip to Koblenz, C1 course
On Saturday, we finally went to Rhineland-Palatinate! After two strenuous but fun-filled months, we deserved a day trip to Koblenz. Since the German courses at LangIsland School are currently being held as hybrid events (online and in-person simultaneously), we haven’t had the opportunity to meet our online classmates in person. Therefore, we chose a location that was relatively central for everyone. We decided on Koblenz, and it turned out to be the right choice: Koblenz is a truly fantastic city!
The fun started on the train: even though it was still early in the morning, we – armed with plenty of coffee – played board games, told stories, and simply chatted normally in German – because we can now 😉 #thanksforislandschool
When we arrived in Koblenz, we immediately headed to the castles and fortresses for which the city is so famous. Despite the COVID restrictions, all the sites were open to visitors, and we even took the cable car! From the top, we had a spectacular view of the Moselle and Rhine rivers. The weather was perfect that day, too! The sky was crystal clear, which isn’t something you see very often in October.
After ticking off all the main viewpoints, we were ravenous and needed to be satisfied immediately. We sat down in a lovely restaurant, tried some regional dishes, and simply spent wonderful time together. Afterwards, we went for long walks, enjoyed coffee and cake, and talked about everything under the sun… Ah, what the heck, it was simply fantastic, thanks primarily to the company.
The trip was not only the perfect end to our C1 course, but also a special conclusion to our learning phase. Now it's over, our paths will diverge from here on out, but the unforgettable time we shared will remain in our memories forever. Thank you so much, #langislandschool.
