How to receive your registration confirmation

What happens in case of delay or rejection?

I need a visa for Germany, what documents do I need?
  1. Confirmation of registration for an in-person language course with 18 lessons per week
  2. valid passport
  3. Proof of health insurance
  4. Proof of funding // e.g. a blocked account for language/study visa (as of 2025: €11,904)
  5. Proof of your previous academic achievements
  6. Proof of German language skills (from level A1)
How do I obtain an official registration confirmation to submit to the embassy for a visa application?

After receiving the full course fee(s), we will send you a registration confirmation for the German embassy.

Step 1: Select one or more courses and register (online or at school)

Step 2: Receive and pay the invoice (Deadline: 7 days)

Step 3: Receive registration confirmation

How quickly will I receive the registration confirmation?

Once full payment has been received, you will receive your registration confirmation via email within 2 hours .

How many courses do I need for the visa?

That depends on the validity period of your language visa. A language course with us typically lasts about 7–8 weeks. For a 3-month language visa, you usually need 1 course , for 6 months about 3 courses , and for 10 months, 5 courses accordingly.

So you can either book a single course or several courses in advance – depending on how long you want to stay in Germany.

Important: Please check with the German embassy in your country beforehand how many course months are specifically required for your visa.

What happens if my visa is not issued in time?

In this case you have 2 options:

Option 1:
You can start the course ONLINE and when your visa is ready, you can continue the same course OFFLINE;

Option 2:
You can postpone your course start to the next course block by sending us an email requesting a course postponement to info@langisland-school.de no later than 14 calendar days before the course starts.
There are no additional fees.

What happens if my visa application is rejected?

In this case, we will refund you the full course fee minus a processing fee of €100.
The registration fee of €29 is non-refundable.

(Refunds are typically processed within 14 working days after receipt and verification of the documents. Transaction fees for international transfers must also be borne by you.)

Will I receive a certificate of participation for the immigration office if I am already enrolled in the course?

Yes , a certificate of participation can be issued free of charge at any time.

What courses do you offer?
Do I need to take a placement test or provide a language certificate?

You have 2 options :

Option 1:
You have a language certificate / a certificate of your previous German language skills.

Option 2:
You take a placement test with us (online) and receive a recommendation regarding your level.

How can I register for a course?
  • Personal registration at the school after prior appointment.

 

Can I register for multiple courses at once?

Yes, simply select and add the courses (and telc exams). The course periods then build logically upon each other.

Please note that we will send you an invoice for all selected courses .

How can I pay the course fee(s)?

Can I pay the course fees in installments?

Available upon individual request for participants in Germany who do not require confirmation for visa purposes.

Can course fees be covered by the job center / employment agency / BAMF?

No , because our language school is a private institution.
Therefore, course participants are private payers and must pay the course fee(s) themselves.

Are there any additional costs besides the language course fees?
  • one-time registration fee of €29
  • Books must be purchased separately (cost approx. €40-50 per level, necessary from A2 onwards)
Is the final exam included?

Yes , our internal exam according to the CEFR standard is included, as is the language course certificate.

How long does a lesson or teaching unit (TU) last?

A lesson or teaching unit lasts 45 minutes.

How long do the German courses last?
  • The intensive courses start every 2 months and last approximately 7 or 8 weeks.

  • The course ” German for Medical Professionals ” lasts approximately 7 weeks and takes place every 2 months.

    How many teaching hours (TU) per language course?
    • A1: approx. 140 teaching hours
    • A2: approx. 160 lessons
    • B1-C1: approx. 200 lessons
    • Medical course: approx. 160 teaching hours
    What is the average age of the course participants?

    Our intensive courses are for participants aged 18 to 35. However, there is no upper age limit!

    What are hybrid courses?

    Our hybrid courses take place simultaneously on-site at the school and online .
    You can decide whether you want to participate in the classroom or via Zoom.
    The rooms are equipped with technology so that both groups can actively participate in the lessons.

    Can I switch from the online course to the in-person course (or vice versa)?

    Yes, that’s always possible – if there’s a free space. Just get in touch!

    When will I receive information about my course?

    You will receive all relevant information such as start date, time, exam dates, required textbooks and the course room in a separate email 14 days before the course begins .

    What is the difference between an internal audit and a telc exam?

    Our internal exam is included in the course and shows your current learning progress.

    The telc exams (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 Hochschule) are official exams that are recognized by universities, employers or authorities, for example.

    Can I take an internal final exam without attending a course?

    Yes, you can also take the LangIsland School final exam as an external participant.
    The costs amount to €199 incl. certificate.

    Please contact us in advance to arrange an appointment.

    Note: If you are enrolled in a regular course, the final exam is included free of charge .

    Is there an additional exam to prepare for telc or for self-assessment?

    Yes, we also offer an internal final exam independent of the course – for exam preparation or self-assessment .

    For our course participants it costs €149 , for external participants €199 .
    You will receive the result on the same day.

    What language level do I need for university studies, vocational training, or my job?
    • For university studies you usually need telc C1 Hochschule .
    • For an apprenticeship or a job , telc B1 or telc B2 is often sufficient.
    • Nursing and medical professions usually require telc B2 or telc C1 .
    Which telc exams do you offer?

    We are a certified telc examination center . You can take the following exams with us:

    Can I take the telc exam without taking a course with you?

    Yes , you can register for a telc exam with us even without having attended a course beforehand.

    Registration can be done online or directly at the school.

    How long will it take to receive my certificate?
    • approximately 3 to 5 weeks

    The evaluation is carried out by telc itself – we will inform you immediately as soon as your result is available.

    Yes, there is an Asian supermarket (Tains) directly in the building (ground floor) where our students receive special rates .
