How long do our German courses last?

Morning courses: 8:00 – 12:15 o’clock
Afternoon courses: 12:45 – 17:00 o’clock

Evening courses last 8 weeks, with 3 lessons each day and a total of 120 UStd. One teaching lesson equals 45 minutes (1 UStd. = 45 minutes).

What are hybrid courses?

Our language school offers on-site & online courses, which we call hybrid courses. Some course participants sit in the classroom and take part in the lessons on-site, while the others have the opportunity to follow the lessons online. The classrooms are equipped with all the necessary technical devices, so the classes can be held smoothly.

Which course do I need?
If no current language certificate is available (not more than 2 years old), we require participation in our entrance examination. This will classify your German language proficiency according to the GER (Common European Framework of Reference) system and help you to find the right and optimal course for you.
What is an entrance test, how and when can I participate?
The placement tests are carried out both on-site and online. In the case of an online assessment, we will send you an access link to the assessment test. A working camera, microphone and headphones are required to take an on-line placement test.

In admission test for all levels (intensive courses A1 – C1, evening courses A1 – C1) consists of 3 parts:

  • Written tasks to assess your vocabulary and knowledge of grammatical structures;
  • A short text with questions & tasks;
  • A short interview to assess your oral skills and your listening skills

Participation in the admission test costs € 10.00 and the duration is about 1 – 2 hours (depending from the course level). You will receive the results with our personal recommendations at the same day. If you register for one of our language courses, the cost of the entrance test will be deducted from the course fee.

The entrance exam takes place after consultation and prior appointment confirmation. Registration for the entrance test is required. Send us a short e-mail or a message via our contact form with your full name as well as your desired entrance test date (day + time).

Please be at least 10 minutes before the entrance test in the school and bring your valid ID.

What do I need an entrance test for?
A proper grading of your level is directly related to your language progress. Not taking the entrance test leads to a wrong assessment of your current knowledge of German, failure of the course and repeating it later.

We at LangIsland School ensure the quality of the lessons and appreciate your time and therefore require an entrance test for all students without proof of language skills.

Can I just take the final exam without enrolling in a full course?

Yes, you can only register for an internal final exam without enrolling in a full course. However, we highly recommend to attend an intensive course first and take the final exam only after the course has ended. The fee for an internal final exam is: Course level A1 – C1: 149,00 €.

Where can I find prices and dates for next courses?
All prices and the next dates can be found under “Courses“.
